Torture in Belarusian jails

International Day in Support of Victims of Torture June 26 notes.
International Day of United Nations in Support of Victims of Torture, was approved by the UN General Assembly in 1997 on the recommendation of the Economic and Social Council.
This day is held to eradicate torture and to ensure effective functioning of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, which entered into force June 26, 1987.
